Sea View Nurses’ Residence, built in 1913 and enlarged in 1938, was part of the Sea View Farm Colony created for the treatment of tuberculosis patients. Listed as a historic landmark, the structure (known as the Nurses’ Residence), and one adjacent cottage were renovated in accordance with preservation and “green” design standards. The structures are now used for affordable senior housing with independent and assisted living facilities, and provide such amenities as a gymnasium, a laundry room at each floor, a dining area, lounge areas, a “Rumpus Room” for quiet activities, and outdoor terraces amid the park-like setting of the farm colony. Park Lane at Sea View is the recipient of the New York State Historic Preservation Project Achievement Award of 2009, the NYSAFAH Award for Excellence, Project of the Year 2010 and the New York Landmarks Conservancy Lucy G. Moses Preservation Award presented in 2010.
